We are looking at integrating documentum with our Accounts Payable module in v7.53. Has anyone done this who would be willing to provide some information on how this was done. We would like to scan an invoice into documentum and gain access from the AP panels to pull up the image for viewing alongside the voucher panel.

YOu will need a 3rd party faxing software partner. We are currently using Merkur with great success. >

We would like to have the ability to fax purchase orders from PeopleSoft to our vendors.  Sun/Unix/Oracle is our platform and are running PeopleSoft 7.52 with 7.58 Tools.  Is there a solution out there somewhere that will give us that ability??  We currently have a Windows desktop faxing program that we use company-wide called Fax Sr.  What type of platform/configuration do we need to make faxing possible from PeopleSoft.  Any suggestions anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.

I heard some are installed the same PeopleSoft 7.5 Client version on Windows 2000 OS. Please let me know if any body knows how to install on Windows 2000. If you are trying to install the single user version of PS, it is not compatible with windows 2000

Hello - My name is Michael Hunsaker and I am currently going through my first implementation at Indiana University Bloomington. I started the project in February of 2002 as a Functional Analyst but recently took more technical roles to help out both sides of the project. I graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in May of 2002 with a B.S. in Informatics, which is basically Information Science with a focus on instruction. Throughout my college career and spare time, I have developed several information systems and websites pertaining to financial aid and project management for smaller companies.

My focus throughout the past 8 years has been IT until I began working on the PeopleSoft Team. Since February, I have been more functional than technical. Over the past several months, I have been trying to keep my head above water with all the documentation that is required by the PeopleSoft implementation. Wouldn't it be nice to have a third-party system to help you keep track of all this documentation along with deadlines, project plans, and email reminders?

I've been thinking of a system that would help PeopleSoft schools and companies manage and monitor the PeopleSoft implementation from a web environment. This online environment would allow the functional analysts and technical analysts, as well as project administrators to be closer to the project and what is expected from them. That is a very high-level description of my idea but I am looking for both technical and functional folks with PeopleSoft experience that would be interested in a project such as this one.

For more information about the project or if you are interested, please email me at mhunsake@indiana.edu.

Thanks!

Happy PeopleSofting...

Michael Hunsaker

How do I setup the local node in PS 8.4. I am trying to integrate CRM with Configurator 4.0 and have everything working all the way up to when you configure the product.

Then upon returning to CRM, I get a 'Configurator Server Error. Please Check your configuration (18065,16)' Error.

I think that I just haven't setup the local node (PSFT_CR) since I can not ping it. But I can't find any doc on how to set it up. It appears to be defined very differently than it was in 8.0.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

It is setup in Integration Broker under node definitions.  If you have sql access, select * from the PSMSGNODEDEFN table and you can see the local nodes there. Dont change any of the delivered nodes or you will not be able to login to the system. If you have 2 default local nodes defined you will need to trust the nodes in Security if you want to use  single sign on.

Hi Michael,

Have you looked at SQL Powertool? It is sniffer that captures SQL calls at the TCP level to gather performance data on database response time and network time.

Although my company does not have a monitoring tool to offer, we do have a performance improvement software that can help PeopleSoft web performance. If this is the area you are trying to address, please contact me at frankie@foedero.com.

Hi!  I was wondering if the Java implementation of PeopleSoft uses JDBC to connect to the database.

I have Websphere and DB2 and I want Peoplesoft to grab data via JDBC.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Laky,

doh ... you might want to ask yourself these questions?

1. What is your employer going to install in his business?

2. Are you happy in tech or a functional person?

3. Are you a programmer or administrative person?

PeopleSoft techies are one of two people ... SQR, PeopleCode, developers ... or infrastucture, PSADMIM, configuration.

You can't do it all and if you think you can, your wrong. Jack of all trades, master of none.

Just my advise ....

To answer your questions ...

To install it you need the CD's.

Yes, it can be installed locally on the hard drive.

DSN??????

PeopleSoft's Customer Connection site has all the doc's u need.

Hi all,

In V7.x, it was clear when a panel was saved: the save-button was grayed out.

Is there in V8.41 a similar way to determine whether a page is saved. The save button doesn't get grayed out, and neither is there an indication that the page is saved. Or is there?

Does anyone have any hints on this topic?

Are there any recommendations out there on how we should document a peoplesoft hr/pr and Finance environment from a technical aspect.

We have 4 or 5 versions, each having 3,4, or 5 environments

Does peoplesoft provide something?

Steven,

In  version 8.1 there is nothing that shows on the screen that you have saved except for the first few seconds a Blue SAVED Text flashes in the upper right corner.

Hello,

My name is Jason. This is my first of probably many, many posts in regards to this subject.

I work in the Training & Development department with a company here in St. Louis. I have a lot of background when it comes to general IT, so I am the designated project leader for a IT-based Training Initiative.

We have an extremely large amount of management trainees out in the field. We need to track information on the trainees, trainers, classes, etc. that we have active in the system.

As of this point, all of the tracking comes in over fax or through the mail and our admin has to keystroke all of this into a rather primative Access database. This is not where we need to be when it comes to tracking. We never seem to be up to date on information, etc., so I am heading up a project that would enable our Field Trainers access and make changes to trainee training records.

Our parent company utilizes PeopleSoft HRMS for basic HR stuff, however they use Version 7.0 (or 7.01) that does not support the functionality we require.

To that end, I've determined to create an extranet database application using SQL Server and ASP to handle everything we need. However, PeopleSoft does contain a lot of information that is useful and I would like to import data from the PeopleSoft DB our parent company uses into the SQL Server DB.

If there's anyone out there who has knowledge of or experience with this kind of thing, would you please give me an overview of what needs to happen to make this work out?

It doesn't need to be all that detailed, but just a list of steps that need to happen in this kind of project.

Thank you,

Jason Portell
St. Louis, MO

Iam working as an Oracle/VB/Java developer for quite some time now and I would want to learn something new, One of my friends suggested me to learn PeopleSoft and I was wondering If anyone from this group could give me a brief Idea on where I have to start and how far I have to go in learning PeopleSoft in order for me to get a Job in PeopleSoft as a Programmer Analyst or something.

And I wonder If I can really get a job with just training in Peoplesoft

I would really appreciate any help in this matter.

Thanks,
